I really apreciate the bitter irony in this – as my old teacher used to say : do we constantly need to remember our kids of the colour of the sky? no, because its plain obvious. then why do we need to constantly remind females, from girls barely out of their diapers up to grown-up ladies, that their the weaker gender? because its NOT obvious, so we, the whole society need to brainwash them constantly to buy into this rubbish.
btw, in sweden they have started an experimental kindergarden a few years ago where all kids are raised free from gender-stereotypes. the founders were struggling quite a bit to find books+toys free of it, in the end they had to create their own. needless to say they faced ridicule up to death threats from conservatives, christians, ‘concerned’ citizens, ect. only because there its ok for boys to like pink clothing and for girls to state confidently that they don´t want to become a nurse but a doctor.
I just spent the last few weeks nibbling my way through these comics one snackload at a time, and I have enjoyed them very muchly! You have perfectly encapsulated so many of my own thoughts and feelings about poly and gender stuff, many of which were already pretty clear in my head, but some were all vague and floaty and then you distilled them and brought them right into focus and I was like YES! I can’t give any meaningful feedback on the autism parts as I’m allistic, except to say that I learned some new things, and thank you. ^_^ (Thank you also to the lovely Hannah for pointing me in this direction!)
Awww, thanks for such a lovely comment! I’m very glad you enjoyed. 🙂
